Biography - Albert 'Barnes' LaRoche

In 1948 Barney LaRoche, affectionately known as "Rocket", guided the Berlin Maroons to their national title game in Toledo, Ohio gaining them tremendous respect and putting Berlin, NH on the map as a regional power. LaRoche won six scoring titles while helping his Berlin Maroons capture four New England Amateur Championships, as well as a national championship in 1954. In the early 50's Laroche was enlisted to coach Notre Dame High School for a stint that he thought would only last one year. That "one year" would ultimately last 17 years and result in 16 NHIAA State Championships, as well as a national championship.
