Golf Classic

NH Legends of Hockey - Golf Classic

Successful Day!

Thank you to everyone that supported our annual golf event. We are grateful to the players, sponsors and volunteers that help make this event better and more popular each year. Once again this year the weather was fantastic and it was a great way to spend time with our hockey family and friends.

Golfers received a welcome package  which included a two-pack of the best summer time insulated glasses around, the "16 oz. Tervis Tumbler" with the NH Legends of Hockey logo affixed, an insulted cooler bag donated by The Meat House and a special "family and friends" offer for the purchase of any MBT shoe. Golfers who arrived early were given free posture checks from Dr. Denise of Crossroads Chiropractic of Pembroke and Andrea Albright of Arias Spa provided free chair massages prior to tee off.

The event was kicked off with a message from Tom Champagne, President of the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey (NHLoH). He welcomed the players and thanked the volunteers, businesses that donated gifts for the "Legends Ultimate Raffle", and the 24 sponsors, in particular our 2010 Title Sponsor, Vachon Clukay & Company PC of Manchester for their support.

Tom also recognized the recent passing of former NHLoH Board Member and 2005 NH Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee, Carl Langlais. Carl was an outstanding baseball player, but he is best remembered as a great hockey player and human being. Carl played for Notre Dame High school and then the Berlin Maroons.  He was the player coach during the 1967-68 season he as player-coach of the Maroons when they won the U.S. National Championship in Lewiston, Maine. He finished his competitive playing career with the Manchester Blackhawks. The NHLoH Board of Directors dedicated the day to Carl and a moment of silence was observed in Carl's memory.

Tom also recognized Leo Gould, a 2006 NH Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee for all his efforts in promoting hockey in the New Hampshire area, most recently with his New England Huskies Hockey Club which plays in the EJHL. Leo was on the original board of directors since its inception in 2001 and had resigned during the past year.

The date of 2010 Induction Ceremony was announced, Sunday December 5, 2010 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester.  "Today, we have two of those individuals with us, Lee Blossom will be inducted into the player category and Dick Theriault will be inducted into the Officials category".  We hope many of you can join us so look for future communications on this important event.

Again, thank you to our volunteers, especially Lori Zaniboni, Kathy Vachon, Bob Vachon, Dick Boucher, Roland Martin, Dick Theriault and Hubie McDonough who worked very hard all-day long keeping the registration, raffle and on course contests running smoothly.
